METHODOLOGY

The Managing Consultant Development Program is an intensive hands-on course over a period of 6 months. Motivated by rapid technology transfer, the academic rigors include coverage of at least 12 entrepreneurial, management, and consultancy books to empower consultants with superior knowledge on the discipline.

Employing the multiple-intelligence method of instruction, consultants engage themselves in actual presentations, workshops, and seminars with Integrative Learning clients as part and parcel of their on-the-job training on the course. This field-based experiential learning tops case-study learning because it allows consultants to immerse themselves in real business endeavors, apply their knowledge for a holistic development of their various consulting skills.

DELIVERY DESIGN

The curriculum is taught through a combined theory and practice:

  1. Weekend Intensives. There will be 6 weekend sessions from 9 am to 8 pm Saturday and Sunday in China and in the US every four to five weeks. The Intensives form the backbone of the technology transfer of consulting competencies.
  2. Weekday Sessions. These are weekly content and support sessions that are delivered either face-to-face (F2F) or via net meetings. These are scheduled every week in two to four-hour sessions in between the monthly Intensives. The goal here is to support and measure performance and ensure that each participant achieves the weekly targets that they have set for themselves.
  3. On-the-Job Training (OJT) Applications. Participants will apply hands-on, and be mentored with real client applications. In China and the US, a specific date is set for the OJT after the Weekend Intensives.

With specific arrangements, participants may opt to have the course credited into nine MA units in Organization Development, given the minimum of 140 hours of contact time.

Weekly coaching, monthly mentoring and daily support structures are set up to ensure students’ achievement of course objectives in the program. The design uses the three MC competencies of Technician, Manager, and Entrepreneur. These are applied and leveraged using established IL brands, products, and systems which have a track record of success in Asia and the United States.

Because the program is results-driven, it includes stretch projects for both the individual and the class. At the end of 6 months, participants are expected to achieve the following key result areas (KRA’s):

  1. Intensive development program for turnkey transfer of consulting competencies.
  2. Select and achieve individual financial targets within a six-month partnering program.
  3. Develop one or all roles: Managing Consultant, Executive Coach, Trainer in a brand module or program, Marketing/Sourcing.
