MERGING MINDS Working within the integrative approach is a great challenge for first timers. It offers great flexibility in executing the lessons at the same time there is an intrinsic challenge in making the connections between the subjects real. Thus satisfactory integration is not so easily achieved. I have learned that the best superordinate for the lessons is not in any of the lessons but in the children. They will tell you how the lessons are connected. In so doing they show you how to connect them. Integration in this manner is no longer based on subjects or discrete points; it is now based on knowledge --- of both the teacher and the students. This is now the integration that we would like to achieve, the integration of minds. Upon achieving this level, academic integration becomes a poor second. Corporate
High-tech marketing jumpstart: Mr. De Belen will be present a brief talk on the effect of High-Tech Marketing based on the Integrative Learning (Multiple Intelligence) framework on the development of an effective sales and marketing strategy for PHILCOMSAT. He will discuss evolution of the sales and marketing department from its virtual non-existence, to the extensive High-Tech Marketing Training program given by IL, up to the eventual success of its Marketing Staff in selling PHILCOMSAT'ss products and services.
TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION@WORK CURRICULA's mission is to enable the education community effectively integrate technology. This presentation will explain technology integration (TI) that is being done inside the classroom of NCI's partner schools. It demonstrates how TI has confirmed and supported the principles of multiple intelligences. TOTALLY INTELLIGENT As an artist, songwriter, singer, performer, teacher, photographer, writer, scuba diver, father, husband and someone who engages life to the fullest, I find thwe view of intelligence as merely linguistic and mathematical-logical quite trite. In my daily life, I know I use more – including intuition and my whole body with all its faculties. Living a multi-faceted life means everything about your body, intuition, mind, soul, senses, chakras and more constitute intelligence.
UNIQUE KA, MAHAL KITA! This is a sharing of some personal experience using Integrative Learning (IL) and Training with Multiple Intelligence (TMI) in enhancing seminars and recollections, as well as classroom teaching. This places in the awareness of the teacher or facilitator that the students or participants in front of him or her are persons with their own preferred learning styles, needs and speed of learning. To treat them all uniformly though they were all auditory in learning styles to fail to accommodate their individual differences and diversity of gifts, strengths and experiences. Thus, there is a need to provide various activities and presentations involving body movements, music, drawing, role playing, kits, active discussion groups, and personal group sharing. To facilitate the learning process, the use of some relaxation techniques to help eliminate or reduce stress and have fun will be demonstrated.
MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCE IN COUNSELING The eight intelligence are very powerful when utilized in counseling context. This is demonstrated in an RCW seminar-workshop, conceptualized and conducted by Sr. Harriet H. Hormillosa. This workshop helps one recognize and discover childhood traumas and woundedness. It also assists in taking responsibility in overcoming these self-defeating effects to enhance one's growth in personal and interpersonal life. The process of healing is aided with the use of multiple intelligence. Awareness of the extent of one's woundedness involves musical intelligence through songs, intrapersonal intelligence through self-reflection, linguistic intelligence through poems, and interpersonal intelligence through discussions. Self-assessment tools, dyad sharing, meditation therapy, and small group processing enable each one to be aware of his/her woundedness and undergo the grief process. Intense interaction between and among the participants is experienced during these processes. A final dramatized meditation or homecoming enables one to let go of the past and face challenges of taking responsibility over one's healing process. A self-care program that heal each developmental stage, together with inputs of forgiveness and the handling of emotions, are presented before planning a self-recovery program and publicly declaring self-affirmation commitment statement. |
